Norwegian due Royksöpp compensate for the cold climes of their native Tromso by crafting warm, inviting downbeat electronic dance music. Exemplified by early tracks like ‘Eple’ and ‘Poor Leno’, they issued their breakthrough debut album Melody A.M. in 2001.
Their Back to Mine album brought to us in 2007 is a truly inspirational mix that draws on the obscure and the sublime, resulting in a masterful blend of shimmering electro, italo disco, p-funk and hip house.
Featuring artists such as Talking Heads, Mike Oldfield, The Art of Noise, Funkadelic and Klein & MBO, this album is nothing but praiseworthy, taking on some of the great eighties electro pop and shoehorning it into Dimitri-from-Paris styled Disco.
Also features an exclusive track under Royksopp pseudonym Emmanuel Splice.
